EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR - 110 to 130K

About Options for Sexual Health (Options):

Based in British Columbia, Options for Sexual Health (Options) is Canada’s largest non-profit provider of sexual health services through clinics, education programs, and the Sex Sense information and referral service. Options seeks to provide comprehensive and accurate information, support for sexual expression and reproductive choice, and confidential clinical services that help British Columbians enjoy healthy sexuality throughout life.

The position:

Reporting to the Board of Directors, the Executive Director is responsible for the overall strategic and operational leadership of this provincial sexual and reproductive health non-profit organization. The Executive Director oversees the delivery of Options’ vision, mission, and strategic priorities through the development and delivery of programs and services, financial sustainability, fund development, operations, and external communications.

What we are looking for:

  • Strong operational, programmatic and financial leadership experience with a minimum of 5 years of years as an Executive Director or CEO or a minimum of 7 years of progressive experience in senior leadership roles within non-profit, social service and social impact sectors. 

  • People Management: Strong experience leading a team, change management and implementing HR policies/processes.

  • Fundraising: Government advocacy and fund development.

  • Strategic Thinker: Experience with developing strategies, pivoting organization/project direction, visionary mindset.

  • Knowledge of/experience with British Columbia's healthcare system, sexual health service delivery and education, and non-profit advocacy is a strong asset.

  • Post-secondary education in nonprofit management, social service work, and/or public administration, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. 

  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively across multiple sectors and foster professional relationships with various funders, community organizations, levels of government, and media. 

  • Experience in leading and developing a multi-disciplinary team of diverse staff. 

  • Strong experience in financial management including budget preparation, financial projections, expenditure control, fund development and successful grant proposal writing 

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, and ability to communicate empathetically and effectively to a wide range of audiences. 

  • Superior judgment skills and ability to make quick, insightful decisions. 

  • Strong work ethic and the ability to triage numerous complex tasks and competing priorities. 

  • The ability to take initiative and oversee a broad scope of program and service delivery 

  • Demonstrable values alignment and an unwavering ability to support the vision, mission and objectives of Options for Sexual Health 

  • A strong intersectional feminist and anti-oppression/human-rights lens and possesses significant understanding and knowledge of the impacts of systemic barriers and oppression on sexual and reproductive health. 

  • High level of technological acuity including MS Office Suite and SLACK. 

  • Solid experience with change management, conflict management and resolution. 

  • Experience reporting to and working with a diverse Board of Directors 

Total Compensation:

  • Salary: $110,000 - $130,000

  • Benefits: Health, dental, vision, cell phone allowance

  • Vacation: 4 weeks

Working Structure:

  • Remote/hybrid, primarily remote in BC

  • In-office attendance flexible, up to 60%
